What makes a great DM?...hmmmm...someone who will run a DnD game so that I can play for a while ,but understands that I crave ultimate power and in the long run, I must be behind the Screen O' POwer!

Actually, a lot of what mrboffo said rings true with me as well,...I like a chance to do something heroic and inspiring...I also want lots of chances to get into character and really role play my goody-two-shoes heroes....sorry,but I am the Paladin _man!

The things that make a DM really good in my opinion are as follows:

He/she has to :

be able to separate a player's personal quirks from their character's

present the story in a way that gives the players options but does
not require them to attempt to write the story for the DM.

be able to allow roleplaying of the personality aspects of the characters
without letting them idividually run the game (or take it over)

realize that it is a game for entertainment purposes,
and make it fun for ALL involved ;)

not take any roleplaying of characters as personal insults
