Hooray for Gen Con!

This is the part of this campaign setting I’m excited about. As you may or may not know, I’m going to be running the very first game in the world of Lenryn at Gen Con. Event registration for Gen Con begins next Sunday, April 20 at 1:00 PM, PDT. I’m running four identical sessions so as to accommodate as many of my readers as I can. Here are the four sessions, along with their event ID:
Thursday, 6:00-10:00 PM, RPG00402
Friday, 12:00-4:00 PM, RPG00403
Friday, 4:00-8:00 PM, RPG00404
Saturday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, RPG00405
Here’s the description, from the GenCon catalog:
Be the first to play in The World of Lenryn, the newest campaign setting designed by Bob Younce of dndreviews.com. Bring your own characters, as per guidelines on the web site. Role-play heavy. Free book, “How I Developed my New Campaign World, and How You Can Develop Yours” provided to each participant. Prizes will also be given for best role-playing, and best character concept.
As is always the case, spots will fill up quickly. Be sure to register early to reserve your seat.
For my local group, you guys can sign up if you want, but my hope is to run the same game for you all (after Gen Con, of course.)
Starting next week, I’ll be posting guidelines for character creation, and begin providing you with some of the back-story specific to the GenCon adventure. In the meantime, if you’re just arriving here for the first time, feel free to start at the beginning of the new campaign diary, and get a feel for what you can expect at Gen Con.
Also, check out my archives page if you want to pop through each of the campaign diary entries.

Hey Robert. I’ve been lurking the genCon events and came across the games that you’ll be running. I’m most certainly going to be registering for one of
yours and look forward to playing. This will be my first time attending
GenCon and am very excited to not only be gaming for four days, but also
meeting new gamers and friends.
Check out my blog at http://www.loreandlegacy.com and my D&D podcast at

Keep up the good work!
Hi Robert, I am just starting to follow your blog and am hoping to use your event at GenCon as my springboard into 4th Edition (or at least to test the waters). What I am curious to know though is where to locate the guidelines mentioned in the event blurb to build a character.
@ Drew and @ Chad – Thanks for stopping in, fellas! And, please, call me Bob.
I’ve updated the site a bit tonite, so there’s a big link right up at the top titled “Gen Con 2008 Game Info.” There’s nothing there yet, but as I mentioned in this post I’m going to start doling out Gen Con game information next week, or as soon as all 4 sessions sell out.
The DMs last blog post..How To Kill Your D&D Game Without Really Trying
Bah all sold out… Thats ok tho, I’m sure the night games will still be interesting.
Don’t worry, G. I’ll run it for you local-types either at the con or back home
Hey DM, can we get the info for the Gencon game soon? Only a couple weeks left.
Hey any word yet on the 4e games? I am At the Table of Truth in a World of Lies 2008-08-16 08:00:00. it says to “Bring your own characters, as per guidelines on the web site.”
I was wondering when are you going to post the rules to make characters??
maybe some propeing quastions to help me think through atleast…
Have you seen the first 3 levels of sword mage yet? http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=rpga/news/lfrcharacters
if the game is a low level do you think that might be ok?
I’ve emailed him several times and posted here as well… can’t get an answer.
Hopefully the game is still going ahead, but I’d rather not waste the first hour creating characters.
same here… and as this is the only 4e game I am playing in I will be pissed if it doesn’t happen…
and…. it’s cancelled.
